Boarding

  • Follow lane markings and crew signals
  • Keep low speed, large margins and gentle inputs
  • Have ticket or QR code ready to avoid delays

Payment and AutoPASS ferry

  • AutoPASS tags are read automatically; have payment card ready if the system does not register the vehicle
  • For manual booths, state total vehicle length including trailer to ensure the correct fare
  • Save receipts digitally if you need documentation for business driving or reimbursements

Parking on deck

  • Park close as directed; engage parking brake firmly
  • Select first gear or P for extra security
  • Turn off engine; obey rules on staying in the vehicle
  • Ventilate briefly before shutdown to reduce fogging

During the crossing

  • Listen to crew announcements for weather and arrival updates
  • Take required hand luggage early without blocking evacuation routes
  • Wedge wheels if the sea is rough and the crew recommends it
  • Allow the cabin to ventilate before closing doors to avoid moisture build-up

Disembarking

  • Return to the car well before arrival
  • Start engines only when signalled
  • Keep spacing and avoid sudden lane changes leaving the ferry
