Preparing for a long drive

Good preparation makes long trips safer and calmer. Use this guide as a compact checklist for the car, the driver and the route. Preparation overview

Vehicle checks

  • Fluids: engine oil, coolant, brake fluid
  • Tyres: tread depth, pressure, damage; see Tyres and maintenance

Driver readiness

  • Sleep at least seven hours the night before the trip
