Driving in the dark

Core principles

  • Use low beam by default; switch to high beam when no one is dazzled
  • Reduce speed; stopping distance must fit your visible range
  • Keep longer following distances and scan more actively
  • Clean windows, mirrors and lights for maximum clarity
