Boarding
- Follow lane markings and crew signals
- Keep low speed, large margins and gentle inputs
- Have ticket or QR code ready to avoid delays
Payment and AutoPASS ferry
- AutoPASS tags are read automatically; have payment card ready if the system does not register the vehicle
- For manual booths, state total vehicle length including trailer to ensure the correct fare
- Save receipts digitally if you need documentation for business driving or reimbursements
Parking on deck
- Park close as directed; engage parking brake firmly
- Select first gear or P for extra security
- Turn off engine; obey rules on staying in the vehicle
- Ventilate briefly before shutdown to reduce fogging
During the crossing
- Listen to crew announcements for weather and arrival updates
- Take required hand luggage early without blocking evacuation routes
- Wedge wheels if the sea is rough and the crew recommends it
- Allow the cabin to ventilate before closing doors to avoid moisture build-up
Disembarking
- Return to the car well before arrival
- Start engines only when signalled
- Keep spacing and avoid sudden lane changes leaving the ferry
Winter and demanding conditions
