Points and reactions
Traffic reactions - points, fines and suspensions β overview.
Traffic violations can lead to points, fines or license suspensions depending on the severity. Reaching 8 points within 3 years triggers a suspension; in the probation period each offence counts double.
Points in brief
| Element | Key facts |
|---|---|
| Points | Issued for defined offences such as dangerous overtaking or running red lights |
| Threshold | 8 points within 3 years; probation drivers reach it twice as fast because each offence doubles |
| Duration | Each point is removed 3 years after the incident if no new offences occur |
Typical offences and points
